These aren’t the Droids you are looking for…

The first time I visited the cinema as a young boy with my parents and sister was to watch Star Wars.
The lights went dark and POW!!!... the Star Wars titles came up with John Williams awesome musical score… then the Star Destroyer chasing Princess Leia’s Cruiser flying over the Desert Plant of Tatooine and that was that, I was a massive fan.
I have been a Star Wars Geek ever since… well before it was cool.

Not just Star Wars but also Star Trek, Back to the Future, 2000 A.D comics, Sci-Fi movies and TV, also video games have always been my bag.
I am now mixing my love for all things Geek with my other passion which is graphics and animation.

Here are just a few of my Star Wars digital artworks.

Mmm chocolate…

This is a bit of a throw back to when I worked in a large photography studio in London.

I was given the freedom to take any product that I liked and create 6 large images that would go on display within the main reception.

I love a challenge and the idea of creating something fun is always exciting.

Finding everyday items that you can use to inspire a creative idea is a great way to stretch your imagination.

So I decided to mix jewellery with chocolate ...as you do and this is the result.

On the Cover of a Magazine

I love fashion so this was just for fun… I like the idea of a challenge and this drawing was one of my first pieces using my brilliant Wacom tablet. You can see the drawing process on the video underneath. With all of my drawings both hand drawn with pen and ink or digitally I like to start with the darkest areas first, this then allows me to see the rest of the tone in the drawing. It also makes me feel like I have actually started and not just looking at a blank page. You can see more of my work on my Instagram page www.instagram.com/illustrationbyelc

Best Wishes

Hand Drawn House Portraits

I started creating illustrations of my friends and family's wedding venues and homes as gifts quite a few years ago and I always had such lovely comments.

Everybody really loved them, my drawings are personal to each individual client as they hold a lot of special memories from important events and times in their lives.
My style is very detailed, yet the pen marks I make are very loose and free, it isn't a prefect copy but it captures a real feeling for the moment and atmosphere of a place.

I use both pen and ink and my Wacom digital tablet to create my illustrations. I love the variety that all of these different mediums bring.

You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram if you would like to see anymore of my work.

Thank you and Best Wishes

The Day after Roswell…

Over the last 20 years I have worked for many clients such as ATP Tennis, Disney Channel, BBC, Channel 4 and many more.

But when I am not creating motion graphics, I like to spend time on my own projects such as this title sequence called The Day After Roswell.

The sequence is a timeline about the famous Roswell incident of the 1940's. Based on research and facts from the time, I have created 3D environments including an American Diner, Gas Station and an Aircraft Hanger.

It was designed using Maxon Cinema 4D for the 3D animation.

Composting and effects were produced with Adobe After Effects.

Grading and Editing produced using After Effects with Magic bullet.

Music - (Orion) Rodrigo y Gabriela (by kind permission of Rubyworks Record Label & Management)

I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did creating it.

Many Thanks

Martin.

You made a time machine out of a DeLorean..?

I had a great response from my previous Back to the Future blog post, so I thought I would post some more of my 3d design work.

All of my work is designed and built in Cinema 4D which is used by many motion graphic agencies to create 3D graphics. I really enjoy designing my own work, because it a good way to learn new techniques and to fine tune the skills that I already have within 3d design and motion graphics.

I get a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment creating these environments and modelling them to a fine detail.

Prints of my work are available just email me via our contact page for prices.

Many Thanks

Martin.

INKTOBER my favourite month…

It's not long until October and that means ....INKTOBER my favourite month.

31 different illustrations, one a day for the whole month. Based on a the official Inktober prompt list (but you can make up your own if you prefer).

If you are not familiar with the concept it was created by the Artist Jake Parker. It’s a great way to motivate and get artist from all over the world to do one ink drawing a day. Everybody can join in, all you really need is perseverance and determination, because speaking from experience a new drawing everyday for 31 day is really quite challenging.

Below are my finished illustrations from Inktober 2018, (I didn't finish them all last year as I was too busy ...but hopefully I will this year)

If you are interested in joining in you can follow the official Inktober pages on Facebook and Instagram and you can also follow me at @illustrationbyelc

Good Luck

1.21 Gigawatts…

One of my favourite movie franchises is Back to the Future and when I'm not producing 3D designs for my clients such as Disney and ATP Tennis, I love to create my own work. I thought you might like to see some of my own projects that I have been working on in my spare time, based on the iconic scenes and props from my favourite movie trilogy. All of my work is designed and built in Cinema 4D which is used by many motion design agencies to create 3D graphics.

I really enjoy creating my own work, because it’s a good way to learn new techniques and to fine tune the skills that I already have within 3D design and motion graphics. I get a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment from creating environments and modelling them to a fine detail. My aim with all of these elements is to produce an animated short based around the movie franchise.

Here are a few rendered still frames from my Back To The Future 3D design project…

Looking a little closer...a photo a day.

Every day I set myself a little task of taking just one photo a day. This sounds like an easy thing to do...just one photo, but of what? Sometimes it’s just there asking for it to be captured and saved as a memory forever, but other days it’s just not so obvious.

The idea behind a photo a day is that it’s making me look at my everyday surroundings a little differently, it creates new opportunities as they occur.

Sometimes it’s easy, I automatically grab my phone and say wow, I must take a picture of that. You know the times, a stunning sunset filling the sky with more colours than you could ever imagine. A family member’s birthday, celebrating with a piece of your favourite cake. The sun glistening on the sea. But if you look a little closer you can find those moments in lots of things that are just there but perhaps not so obvious.

Taking time out to reflect on where you are and what you have achieved over the last few months, can allow you to reconnect with all the positive elements that surround you. It wasn't until I started taking a photo a day that I started to notice amazing things that are happening around me all the time. The changing colour of the leaves on the trees, a gecko with no tail, the tiniest grasshopper that I had ever seen, no bigger than my little finger nail and if you know me, you know that's super small.

I began to see new colours, the different ways light can fall on objects, textures of paint that have aged in the sun over the years, flowers that open during the day and then close again at night....there are so many beautiful and amazing things right under our noses that deserve to be captured and saved in our memories as a photo a day.

You will be amazed at what you can find

Emma

xx
